Northern Praying Mantis is a style of Chinese martial arts, sometimes called Shandong Praying Mantis after its province of origin. It was created by Wang Lang and was named after the praying mantis, an insect, the aggressiveness of which inspired the style. There are many variations of the style with the most well known being: Seven Star, Taiji, Plum Blossom and Six harmony among others. said to be from the Song Dynasty it is considered a very old style of Chinese Martial Arts with a long history of its effectiveness.
